Files are available in two formats:

OGG Vorbis
(smaller files, better sound than mp3, and completely free, but you need to have a audio player that supports the format like WinAmp)

or

MP3
(widespread support in many available players, but uses old (1987) patented technology that isn't really as free as everyone thinks)

Both are a compressed audio format and are not the same quality as a CD. The advantage is the smaller file size. It will take you a little while if you are on a standard phone-line modem. Those of you with broadband connections will get the files much quicker.
